How colorful and pretty are these?! These are a fun treat for the kids to enjoy for a snack during playtime, movie time and even for dessert. They are fun and easy to make! They only require THREE ingredients! That’s how simple it is to make these delectable popcorn balls.
You can make these with or without food dye but the dye is fun to make any color you want and it can be perfect to fit the themes for parties or even baby showers. I decided to do a light purple, pink and my husband Mikey picked green. I made so many he took some to work to share. I wrap each one individually in Seran plastic wrap to keep them fresh.
Here is what you need to make these treats:
- One bag of large marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 4 oz of unpopped white popcorn kernels air popped
- food dye (optional)
- spray butter or cooking spray to use on your hands as you shape each ball (not pictured)
After air popping my popcorn I put it on a large baking sheet. Then melted my butter and marshmallows until I saw my marshmallows start to expand. I then added my food dye and stirred into the marshmallows melted into the butter and dye.
Then I poured the mixture all over my popcorn that I laid out on my baking sheet. I sprayed my hands to help with the stickiness of the melted Marshmallow mixture. I mixed it all together by hand and then shaped into balls and placed on wax paper to let them rest.
You can eat them right away! These are finger licking good and remember I said they are easy to make? They really are and so chewy and tasty for everyone to enjoy – not just the kids!
