It’s almost fall y’all! One of my favorite times of year! The weather is starting to cool in the mornings and the leaves soon will be changing to their beautiful reds, oranges and golds. Our family completed our first item on our fall bucket list – apple picking! It may sound early but September is best for picking Honeycrisp apples!!
We headed to Kimmel Orchard in Nebraska City, Nebraska for their Honeycrisp Festival on Labor Day weekend! It was about a 50 minute drive but goes so quickly. The kids loved it and it was fun! The honeycrisp apples looked absolutely delicious!
We let our three kiddos (Kallen was hanging out in my Tula carrier) each pick 3 apples because I didn’t want so many apples they ended up wasted. Just wanted enough for us to enjoy their delicious flavor. They were only $2.50 a pound which isn’t bad at all considering our grocery stores here have honeycrisp apples for about $4-5 a pound and when on sale they drop to $2 a pound.
We took a hayrack ride to the honeycrisp trees. It definitely wasn’t within walking distance so it was great to be able to ride there. The kids enjoyed this as well as the giant dust storm the tractor produced. Haha!
Waiting for the hayrack ride with Dad
Looking for some good honeycrisp apples!
Is this a bad apple?
This little guy found a perfect apple!
Checking out the fudge and eating an apple….
After apple picking we headed to the little eatery/store. They sell all kinds of things! BBQ sauce, apple butter, pies, more apples, apple cider, etc. but most importantly… apple donuts!!
It was a fun family outing to spend the early afternoon. We had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful weather outdoors. It wasn’t hot which was great! Next on our fall check list is pumpkin patch!
What’s on your fall bucket list?
