Hello y’all and sorry I’ve been MIA! My family and I have been blessed with a surprise blessing – my husband’s second son – my fifth son! So blessed! Landen Nickolas Zane was born at 1 AM on November 20th at 33 weeks and 2 days weighing 5 lbs 4 oz and 18 inches.
Labor went smoothly and didn’t receive an epidural because of the many meds my body was already on. I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension after being admitted to the hospital two times in one week that turned into Pre-eclampsia in less than a week!
It was a high risk pregnancy so we didn’t announce it. We didn’t expect to be having a preemie baby but we knew it was a possibility. I was seeing maternal fetal medicine from 8 weeks on due to antibodies in my blood, Pre-eclampsia risk (had it with my 2nd and 4th) and my beta-thalassemia.
I am glad it is over but so saddened that our sweet Landen is in the NICU and we are praying he is home before Christmas! He is doing good so far and just has to put on more weight since he’s lost some, continue to maintain his body temperature and learn to bottle feed since he has his feeding tube. Can’t believe he’s a week old already! He is absolutely perfect and a wonderful surprise gift to our family.
