It’s February and with that comes hearts, love, roses, and donuts! YES! Donuts! These donuts are adorable and delicious. A moist, cake like consistency with a delicious vanilla glaze and Valentine heart shaped sprinkles! They are super easy to make and perfect for the upcoming Valentine holiday as a breakfast treat for your sweetheart!
My husband and boys love donuts (as do I) so I am super excited to make these again for Valentine’s Day for my little sweethearts and Valentine. I hope you enjoy this easy recipe!
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease your donut pans as well and set to the side. This recipe makes about 15 donuts.
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- dash of salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 3/4 cup of sifted flour
- 1 cup strawberry cake mix
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 to 4 tablespoons milk
- Valentine themed sprinkles
Combine your flour and salt into a small bowl. In another bowl combine all other ingredients and then add flour mixture and mix until smooth.
You will fill your donut pan half full so that they don’t overflow. If they do you can always cut the excess around the donut but you shouldn’t need to. You want to cook these until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. May take about 15 minutes.
Let sit in donut pan to cool before removing otherwise they will break apart.
Make your glaze and smooth on top a thin layer. Sprinkle your adorable Valentine sprinkles onto the glaze and let it cool/harden. Serve these with a tall glass of ice cold milk and enjoy!!
